Gudrun the founder of TARAMAR said, “At the age of 50, as I searched for safe skincare products to use on my own skin, I was shocked to discover the industry’s use of cheap and unsafe ingredients. I was unable to find products that were tolerated by my body, and I discovered that most products on the market contained toxic or skin irritating chemicals that can be harmful to our health and wellbeing. Being a marine scientist, professor at University of Iceland and having worked all my life with ocean plants and fauna, I wondered if I could find a solution to my skin problems in the pristine depths of the ocean around Iceland? Little did I know, but this trail of thinking, and what initially was a delightful hobby, became a deep dive into the world of natural skin-actives and their potential for improving the health and appearance of our skin.
My research took me down a winding path of discovery, and along the way I hijacked my husband, Professor of Food Sciences, and all his students, to work on solutions for the skincare. Gradually, our brand, TARAMAR, came into existence. When we launched our first product in Iceland, our vision was confirmed, and we realized that we had something truly unique and special on our hands.”
