CBD Healthcare Company (CBDHCC) has become the First-Ever Personal Care Product to have earned certification to NSF Guideline 527 and NSF Certified for Sport® for its Broad-Spectrum CBD Balancing Massage and Body Oil.
These certifications mark two major milestones: CBDHCC is NSF’s first client in the world to comply with NSF Guideline 527, which demonstrates the product formula meets strict limits and is free of unsafe levels of impurities and adulterants; it is also the first personal care product to earn NSF Certified for Sport® certification.
“The spirit of clean athletic competition is something we all connect with,” said David Lonza, Vice President, Health Sciences at NSF. “From weekend warriors to the professionals, we’re honored to play a small part in supporting athletes who want to train, perform and recover the right way.”
Balancing Massage and Body Oil compliments all protocols for supporting athlete health on the field, from practice to competition. CBDHCC provides sports medicine practitioners such as strength coaches, athletic trainers, physical therapists, massage therapists, and chiropractors with a product they can trust.
Founded in 2018, CBDHCC crafts CBD wellness products with transparency and quality for massage and sports. CBDHCC products feature ingredients grown, extracted and tested in America with US agricultural permits.
John Walsh, co-founder of CBDHCC, emphasizes the company’s commitment to quality and efficacy: “Adhering to CBD Healthcare’s principles of the highest quality and protocols. Our goal is to be the industry leader for the Sports Medicine practitioners who work with the pro’s – strength coaches, athletic trainers, physical therapists, massage therapists, and chiropractors who understand the value placed on products that have earned the NSF Certified for Sport® credential.”
Matt Krause, Former MLB Strength & Conditioning Coach and Dual Certified strength coach & athletic trainer. “I’m excited to see CBD Healthcare Company has a quality product that I can use in the weight room and the training room that can enhance my players’ recovery and increase their performance.”
NSF Guideline 527
Building on its decades of experience in the certification of dietary supplements, NSF developed Guideline 527 to offer its expertise in mitigating risk, minimizing liability, differentiating products from competitors, and improving trust among customers to the personal care industry.
Launched in 2023, NSF 527 is a prestigious guideline designed to bolster the integrity of the cosmetics and personal care industry by providing a complete program that includes standardized definitions and criteria, label review, formulation requirements, ingredient identity, testing criteria, product purity and physical characterization and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)-compliance with NSF/ANSI 455-3 and/or NSF/ANSI 455-4.
As consumers increasingly demand greater transparency and accountability from personal care brands, it has become more important than ever for manufacturers and suppliers to demonstrate their products are safe, effective, and meet consumer expectations.
NSF Certified for Sport®
NSF Certified for Sport® certifies dietary supplements, functional foods, cosmetics and personal care products to be free from substances banned by major sporting organizations. It helps athletes, dietitians, coaches and consumers make more informed decisions when choosing sports supplements to reduce their risk of doping sanctions.
NSF screens for over 295+ substances, across all classes, including steroids, SARMs, stimulants, beta-agonists, diuretics, growth hormone releasing agents and hormone metabolic modulators. Products Certified for Sport® must also be certified to either NSF/ANSI 173, NSF 229 or NSF 527 to ensure their contents match their claims.
Certified for Sport® is the only independent, third-party certification program recognized by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), Major League Baseball (MLB), the National Hockey League (NHL) and the Canadian Football League (CFL). Certified for Sport® is also recommended by the NFL, NBA, PGA, LPGA, UFC, CCES, CPSDA, iNADO, Ironman, NASCAR, Taylor Hooton Foundation and other organizations that seek to mitigate the risks of contaminated dietary supplements, functional foods, cosmetics and personal care products.
NSF certifications ensure consumers have safer options for popular hemp and CBD products by certifying their products do not contain unacceptable levels of contaminants, including those specific to hemp, like THC and solvents. Certification also validates label claims.
